Morning Gratitude
Before you turn on your phone and let the world in, take a few minutes to start your day with a simple gratitude practice.
Settle into a comfortable seated position. Your eyes can be open or closed. Your hands can be anywhere in your lap or on your body that’s comfortable. Take a few breaths and simply begin to observe your breathing. With each breath, presence yourself more and more in your body and in this moment.
Bring to mind 3 things that you’re grateful for this morning.
There are no rules. Keep it simple.
You could feel gratitude for someone or a pet, your home or another practical item such as your phone, the sunshine or trees outside your window, … anything.
Once you’ve identified your 3 things, perhaps write them down in a notebook.
Then, one at a time, name each gratitude and take 3 breaths for each one. Is there a place in your body where you feel this gratitude shows up? If so, perhaps place one hand on this area as you breathe. Notice how gratitude feels in your body and in your mind.
Set your notebook aside and come back to simply observing your breath.
When you’re ready, begin your day with gratitude as your foundation.
