What can I gather right now?
Drawing inspiration from the changing seasons can be a fun and helpful way to approach personal reflection. We are, after all, cyclical creatures and can find simple and profound meaning when aligning with the seasons around us. We can certainly think of Fall as a time of letting go, just as the trees let go of the leaves. Let’s take a moment to reflect on what we can gather from this beautiful season, a time of harvesting and gathering.
Settle into a comfortable seated position. Your eyes can be open or closed. Your hands can be anywhere in your lap or on your body that’s comfortable. Take a few breaths and simply begin to observe your breathing. With each breath, presence yourself more and more in your body and in this moment.
Ask yourself the following:
What do I want to collect from this season? What is the Fall offering me that is unique to this time of the year?
What do I find nourishing about the Fall and that I want to include more of in my life?
What do I sometimes overlook about this season of harvesting, of gathering that might actually serve me well?
What could I gather from this time that would serve my relationships and how I show up in them?
What have I already gathered in my life that I am grateful for?
When you’re done with your reflections, pause with eyes open or closed, take a few breaths. Notice how this experience feels - in your mind but also in your body. If it’s useful, note any reflections in your journal.
