Five Years From Now

Find a comfortable seated position, with a notebook or journal. Stack your shoulders over your hips. Lengthen your neck so your ears are over your shoulders. Soften your ribs over your pelvis. Soften your bite. Allow your body to take any other fidgets it wants and then find some stillness.

Notice the flow of your breath and encourage it to be softer, slower, and deeper into your body. Just notice your breath and allow it help shift your attention out of your day and into this time for reflection.

With eyes open or closed, allow your attention to drop even deeper, beyond this moment, beyond today. Perhaps allow your attention to draw wider and take yourself into the future to five years from now. As you take a few breaths, invite your imagination to take over. What does your life look like five years from now? Where are you? What are you doing day to day? Who is around you? How do you feel? Really allow the feelings in your body to come alive. Allow your senses to take in your surroundings.

Let the answers come in any form: words, pictures, colours, etc.

Take some time to write down your reflections in your notebook.
